With BIN, the base views of those documents Ð floor plans, ceiling plans, elevations, sections, and schedules Ð are produced automatically and they all update as the model is updated, saving hours of work. In the traditional workflow, the most time consuming part of the project is the Construction documents. This is called Bi-directional Associativity. Even Construction documents update automatically with callout tags in sync with the sheet numbers. Changes made in one view automatically update in all views.

Plans, elevations, and sections are simply 2D versions of the 3D model. However, in the BIN workflow, the design process revolves around the model. Changes are made at the plan level and then coordinated with other documents in the set. Construction documents, or CD's, can then be created in this workflow. In the traditional design process, plans create the basis for the model from which you then create sections and elevations. By creating complete models and associated views of those models, Revit Architecture takes much of the tediousness out of producing a building design. Revit Architecture is a true BIN product in that it is much more than a drafting program. BIN has changed the process of how a building is designed. Revit Architecture also enables you to check for interferences between disciplines. Revit Architecture coordinates with two other programs: Revit MEP, which is Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing and, Revit Structure. All these, such as plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, as well as design sheets printed for construction documents are automatically then generated based on the model. And finally, modeler signifies how a Revit Architecture project is built in a single file around a building model. When one element changes, the other element changes as well, and building signifies that this program is designed for working with buildings as opposed to gears or roads. Parametric means you can establish a relationship between two building elements. Revit Architecture is a Parametric Building Modeler and is an important part of the BIN process. In each of these phases, the BIN process supports the ability to, number one, coordinate your design data with team members, and number two, update the design data with team members, and number three, share that design data with team members. The BIN process supports all three phases of a building's life: the Design phase, the Construction phase, and the Management phase. Building Information Modeling, or BIN, is an approach to the entire building life cycle.
